Thank you all so much for your good wishes and cards. The nurses and doctors have been bowled over too, frequently remarking on just how many there are. Today Nick had an MRI and a CT scan, and while he was being wheeled round the hospital the nurse took the opportunity to tidy up.
On the recovery side things have slowed down a bit. The infection does look to have been reduced by the antibiotics but shifting the fluid is harder. The drugs are keeping a good flow into his bladder and out of the catheter but it’s a juggling act with blood pressure and general heart functions. Although the water in his lungs had dropped a little yesterday it hadn’t gone down noticeably today so we’re all worried but keeping positive.
The doctors, nurses and nonmedical staff here are just amazing. Actually I know they are everywhere else too. Putting the cards up on the wall for Nick was an example, but we were all really touched by a lovely letter given to Nick by a nurse when she left to go on holiday back to her family in Naples.

The ancient Wise family have only just fathomed this modern technology of a Blog! by clicking on the dates. Quite a holiday this is turning out to be, and Diana’s house looks like it’s in Greece … Graham Garlick, Susie and Maggie come to Yorkshire for 2 weeks on Saturday so some T21 gliding is expected – but no spinning and landing on the gallops. We can’t say ‘chin up Nick’ as it’s already half way and stuck in the brace, but we look forward to your return North and a visit when possible
